How good is Italian 925 silver?
925 silver (also called sterling silver, sterling silver, 925 sterling silver) is the most widely used purity in jewelry making worldwide. It is harder than 950 silver.
925 silver, or sterling silver, is so named because it is composed of 92.5% silver, and the remainder is another metal, such as copper. The number 925 is used because a piece of 925 sterling silver means that if we divide that piece into 1,000 parts, 925 would be pure silver and the remainder would be the other metal.
